During my growing up years on the farm in the 1940s and 1950s, there were no electronic devices to occupy us, no television or even plastic toys. Our fun other than when we were working centered around family members, in my case, seven siblings. The stories in this publication are mostly true (depending on which sibling you talk to). My own children and grandchildren heard them first and then I wrote them down realizing the majority of kids born now will have little or no first hand experience with growing up on a farm in America. The importance of this book is that it’s a journey in itself. It teaches one to love through the pain, and that regardless of what you go through in life you do matter. In addition, a hope of unity can also be found throughout the book. It appears that the author is teaching to forgive in every situation, even during the torment. As sap rises and falls in the depths of a tree, so our spirit moves in our bodies taking us to places both near and far. We are not humans having spiritual experiences but rather spirits having a human experience. It is in this manner of rising, falling and polished by adversity that our rough edges are ground away and our spiritual core revealed.
